First Ryzen 6000 Gaming Laptop Review Published

 

The Spanish publication Professional Review published a review of the Acer Nitro 5 gaming laptop based on the AMD Ryzen 6000 series processor with Zen 3+ architecture and the GeForce RTX 3060 graphics accelerator. At the time of publication of this article, the review has been deleted. Apparently it was released ahead of time.

 

At the heart of the Acer Nitro 5 is the 8-core, 16-thread Ryzen 7 6800H running at up to 4.7GHz (300MHz slower than the flagship Ryzen 9 6980HX). Since this processor only supports DDR5 memory, the laptop is equipped with two DDR5-4800 RAM modules with a capacity of 8 GB each. The mobile GeForce RTX 3060 with a declared power consumption of 140 watts is responsible for the graphics subsystem in the new product. The laptop is equipped with a 15.6-inch screen with a resolution of 2560 × 1440 pixels and a refresh rate of 165 Hz.

In the set of external interfaces, the novelty has USB4, DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 connectors. Unfortunately, the Spanish resource did not include integrated graphics performance data in its review. Recall that the mobile Ryzen 6000 series received a new graphics core based on the RDNA 2 architecture. For example, the same Ryzen 7 6800H processor model is equipped with 12 computing graphics units.

In the Cinebench R20 and Cinebench R23 synthetic tests, the Rembrandt series Ryzen 7 6800H processor was indeed faster than the previous generation Cezanne chips. In all tests, it outperformed the Ryzen 7 5800H by about 9% and the flagship Ryzen 9 5900HX by about 5%. However, taking into account the fact that the performance of mobile processors due to the difference in TDP may differ from one laptop model to another, the difference between the speed of these chip models can be both smaller and larger depending on the laptop.

During the announcement of the Ryzen 6000 mobile processors, AMD focused on various features that increase the battery life of laptops based on them. However, the battery life of this specific Acer laptop model was 2.5 hours at 40 percent screen brightness and performing relatively light tasks, the Spanish publication noted. With all the power-saving features of Rembrandt processors, of course, one would expect a longer battery life.
