Pixel 7

 

Back in May 2021, a Google patent for a sub-screen camera technology was discovered on the Internet. Now another similar patent from the company has appeared on the network. Journalists have suggested that we may see this technology in the upcoming Google Pixel 7.

The patent was discovered by LetsGoDigital. It renders the device. The documentation describes a new type of subscreen camera. The design assumes the presence of an emitting display paired with a small non-emitting part (analogous to a cutout for a selfie sensor). This will allow light to enter the camera sensor.

For this type of technology, of course, an OLED panel will be used. The camera itself should not be visible under the display. Essentially, the same technology is used in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3.

Whether this technology will be implemented in the Google Pixel 7, time will tell.
